Amazon's new MP3 store
Amazon recently launched yet another MP3 music store. Normally I wouldn’t care about another MP3 music store but this one I am somewhat excited about (haven’t tried it out yet.) Real quick, the things that attracted me:
- NO DRM!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, it’s about time! No more crippled music
- 256K tracks. Finally Higher quality
- Looks to be easy to use and puts the songs right into iTunes. Damn, watch your ass apple.
- Tracks are priced between $0.89 and $0.99; Albums between $5.99 and $9.99
-”only” 2 million songs. more to come I’m sure
looks like a win win to me. I hope so, it might be time to start buying music again!
I am going to try out both the website portion of the site as well as their standalone application tonight. Time will tell, but so far so good.

Game of the year: Bioshock or Halo3?
So I heard an interview today and one of the subjects was “Game of the year.” The two contenders are BioShock and Halo3. My question to you is this; is there really even a comparison? Halo3 came out today, so of course its going to be more popular today, but lets look at is from the player perspective.
Halo3: Third installment of the halo series, from my point of view its somewhat of a prettier halo 1+ 2. It might be the best halo ever, but not the best game ever
BioShock: Brand new idea, looked great, amazing game play, fantastic story line.
Everyone has their favorite for one reason or another, but I still have to call BioShock game of the year.
P.S. It really doesn’t make sense to name something “_______ of the year” until the year is actually over and you have had time to check out all the options. A more appropriate title would be “_________ of the year…so far” there is my one and half cents for the day.
Review: Apple Airport Extreme
Recently I had yet another Wireless router start to fail on me. Granted it was a cheapo belkin. I decided to try out the New Apple Airport Extreme. This brings me into the 802.11N world as well. Some of the highlights;
- 802.11 (a,b,g,n)
- I am glad to see the unit has Gig-E ports now. (although only 3 ports, I would like to see 4)
- The setup of the unit is very nice with the “Airport Utility” app. Instead of going through a poorly designed web app like much of the other wifi routers out there.
- I also like the fact that the unit is highly configurable.
- Port forwarding works well.
- Ability to choose subnet (192.168.1.x, 10.0.1.x,172.19.3.x)
- USB port for printers or HDD’s (very rare to find in a wifi router)
Overall it’s a great piece of hardware with great range and speed. Although kind of pricey, worth the money.
Nokia N75
I received my Nokia N75 in the mail today, which takes over the role of the Blackberry 8700c in the phone testing slot. Review will be filled as soon as I get a chance to us it in real life. So far I am liking it a lot, of course it has its problems right out of the gate, but we can get into that later.
So I am done with the phone, and overall it was a decent phone, good call quality, my one problem was no direct sync with Entourage on the mac. So off it goes. By the way. it’s on ebay right now ;)
